First look at David Morrisey in new historical show Brittania

The new 10-part series will feature David Morrisey (Walking Dead, The Driver), comes from Sky and Amazon US and is written by Jez Butterworth.

Centred around the Roman Imperial Army’s return to the shores of Britain in 43AD, the show will be set against a backdrop of powerful celtic druids and ‘warrior women’.

Shot on location in Prague and Wales, Brittania is due to hit screens in 2017 on Sky 1 in the UK and Amazon Prime Video for US audiences.

Writer Butterworth noted, ‘Here we have a war between two pantheons – the Roman gods v the Celtic gods. It’s the heavyweight clash of all time, the one which most shapes who we are today.’

Butterworth is perhaps most well known for working on the script for James Bond’s Spectre. This venture will see the writer flexing his muscles in an entirely different age.

Morrisey said of the writer, ‘I have been a fan of Jez’s writing for a long, long time, so to get the chance to work with him on this epic tale is very exciting. His dialogue and storytelling are second to none.’

Stay tuned for more updates on Brittania.
